"There is no other way work of artistic worth can be done. And the occasional success, to the striver, is worth everything. The most regretful people on earth are those who felt the call to creative work, who felt their own creative power restive and uprising, and gave to it neither power nor time."
I was lucky -- I knew early on that 9-to-5 would never work for me. My walls aren't splattered, but I certainly live a flexible work life. About a year ago (maybe two?) I stopped setting an alarm. I'd inevitably get up anxious -- or, if I hadn't slept well that night, I wouldn't get up at all.
So now I get up when I wake up, and I'm generally in the office (in my basement) by about 8:30. Sometimes it's 9:30. Today it was 7:00. The still work gets done, and I have one less stressor in my life!
Glad to hear the art is coming well, Sana! Keep flickin' that paint!
Clearly you were more in tune with you needs than I was! I always thought getting up in the morning and rushing about for a meeting/gym is what made me feel alive - turns out that was just cortisol ;) Now I love my slow and unpressured mornings and that in fact is what helps me tune in to my needs.
oh how this has my Heart recalling Mary Oliver:

Those lines have haunted me for years! Thanks for sharing and the love <3

Ha - it took me a long time to figure that out... Glad you were able to find your balance, too!
